Exercise 1.1
My drive to write stems of my natural tendency to be curious and explorative, almost to a fault. I enjoy exploring sub-cultures, points of view, political ideologies and cultural practices. But moreover, I enjoy exploring these things through narrative, in a way that carries with it my observation and interpretation of culture and practice.
I think, in a way, it is also a way to share of myself in a way that could, perhaps, allow others to at least understand and hear a voice in a different or broader way. Language is also a fascinating craft, the way sentences, words and themes can impact and influence the mind in different way

Disclaimer
The following is a typed out version of chapter 1 “Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone” by J.K. Rowling. This is not an original piece of work but a one-page excerpt typed out, by hand, for the purpose of commentary and education. I am not trying to “improve” the original text, only learn about writing by altering it for different effects and to learn the techniques that Rowling masters so well.
Chapter one - Original version
Nothing like this man had ever been seen on Privet Drive. He was tall, thin, and very old, judging by the silver of his hair and beard, which were both long enough to tuck into

Introduction
Hello my name is Blaine and I am the Owner/ Editor in Chief for Superior Story, a literary editing and consulting business. Mr. Parker mentioned that he was looking for a few more pairs of eyes to help evaluate work being submitted, so I have volunteered to join the fray. I will also be completing many of the tasks along with everyone so we can work together and have fun.
I have been writing since 2003 and editing for over three years now. I became a writer by accident. I never set out to become one when I started, and I wasn't even a hobbyist until my high school freshmen English t

So hello. My name is Mystie Merys, though I go by ReishaTerrin and SheridanLightrose <--- though this name I plan to change in the near future. Why do I want to be a writer? I love to write and express myself. Greenbat Workshop: Introduction
A short introduction to you. Include why you want to be a writer and what you hope to accomplish in your writing.
Greeting, I am myself, the Sweven. I will be participating in a workshop by WhiskeyDreamer and JosephBlakeParker in their group GreenBat-Tutorials. The ignorant among you may now exit due to indifference, or go here:
Concerning myself, I like writing, and so I'm here to do things that I like, 'cause I can. I can be either imbrutally honest or just politely silent, depending. I especially prefer people who know not to take themselves too seriously, unless the other people are just being annoying, then it's fine to be a bit seri

Introduction:
So… hi. My name's Kris. And I'm typing like I talk. This is something I tend to do, when I'm not writing or in character or anything. It's something that just happened when I started chatting a lot. I'm a teenager with a lot of ideas. If school's to be believed, I'm very very smart (top classes, high grades, you know, the whole nine yards). I probably own more characters for my own good. I want to be a writer because I want to (a) put all these people to, like, good use, (b) because I love, love, love reading and would really like to have someone take the same joy in reading someth

GreenBat Workshop: Introduction
Introduction
My name is Ashelia Lilith Crosse, and I call myself a writer. Albeit I don’t call myself a good one. Ever since I was young, I was obsessed with the worlds that authors created. This sparked my desire to be a writer when I grew up. I still remember being 7 or 8 years old, staying over at my great-grandmother’s and playing with her old typewriter. The dream never went away. My grandfather became a self-published author (*hint* insert pride and shameless promotion here *cough*) and I hoped to follow in his footsteps. Throughout high school, when the angst and imagination fully set in (among some other troubles), the amo

Anyways, call me Mina. I want to be a writer, because I’ve found that I love reading and writing stories. My dream is to someday be a full time writer, but first I need to get the first book published. Lol. With my writing, I hope to entertain and inspire. There were certain books that got me really excited, and I want to give readers that same feeling.
For this workshop, I think my novel’s genre is YA Urban
